Abstract
Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health concern that causes a substantial increase in morbidity and mortality rates among adults. CKD is accompanied with several complications including cardiovascular disease (CVD) and death. We aimed to study the relation of level of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the serum and magnesium (Mg) in CKD and CKD patients with various comorbidities. Methods This cross-sectional study involved 100 CKD adult pre-dialysis patients, they were subdivided into 4 groups; the 1st group included 21 patients with CKD only, the 2nd group included 29 patients with CKD and diabetes mellitus (CKD+DM), the 3rd group included 34 patients with CKD and hypertension (CKD+HTN) and the 4th group included 16 patients with CKD and CVD (CKD+CVD).
